This years HP Hood Quarter Century club was held again last week. I've been attending since 2003, even though I was far short of having 25 years in. That is now changed. I've not been a "member" for for 2 yrs officially. Hard to believe that.. This year we had 4 new inductees attend. I know all 3 of them very well. Santa, Ciro & Gina. With what was likely nearly 300 in attendence, really proud to be part of this company.. To quote a man I truly admire who happens to be our CEO and owner, "Don't make the List".... I saw the most interesting thing in Chicago yesteday... We love live music, so on the way back to the car to head home, there were people gathering around a stage. We checked it out and turns out, there was going to be a country band playing. When they started out, they announced who they were and that dancing lessons would would kick it all off. I started thinking to myself "ya, right, how are they going to get people up there for that?".... In a split second, the massive dance area filled with people. I couldn't believe it. Young and old dancing with each other. It was awesome.
As we were heading home down Roosovelt, we came across this scene. It's one we would like to forget or pretend does not exist. If we even comment, we may find ourselves saying something like "he probably makes a killing collecting at that intersection"..... From a photographic stand point, my facination was with his socks and the passing by of the Weinberg's sign... At first, it's deserving of a smile or laugh due to the coinciedience. For me, that is brief and quickly dismissed as my thoughts quickly return to where this guy sleeps and what does he eat. #homeless #homelessness #compassion
